Happy Nkgatho was born in the North West province and raised in the Free State. He is a self-taught artist. He attended several exhibitions and also completed a course in Drawing Art at the North-West University. He was in the top 100 at the Thami Mnyele Fine Art Awards.
His work has shifted from commercial to controversial art over the years. His drawings are hyper-real and photographic precision is meant to trigger the viewer's emotions.
